The Ventura Film Festival began in 2004 and has presented countless films, regularly over 200 films during summer months, and has generated excitement within the international film community. Memorable occasions have featured presenting celebrated filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the original world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend along with Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA competitor the celebrated Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West Side Story, which comprised receiving the entire award-winning cast of West Side Story, featuring Oscar winner/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris together with Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival founder and executive director was selected to take part, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the 50th Anniversary tribute of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Oscar honorees Rita Moreno, here George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay launch by Fox and MGM of the classic West Side Story, which is broadly regarded by critics and fans as the most exceptional musical of all time.
